( This is a sampling of work. Please contact for full portfolio and exhibition images. )

Collage

Materials ranging from crayons on bar napkins to ink and paint on found books function as signifiers of both individual and collective experience, rendering sometimes satirical, sometimes heartbreaking, but always visceral portrayals of daily emotions. Each collage is an eclectic expression of unmediated feelings both hysterical, gut-wrenching, and everything in between.

Drawing

Figuration of my work emerges from a practice of making self-portraits and alter egos. I’ve always used self-portraiture as an opportunity to play and experiment with new techniques in my work.

If you draw yourself enough times, it becomes second nature, therefore you are very comfortable in the idea of change. On the one hand, I have created so many self portraits at different times and ages in my life that I’ve cataloged the march of time and maturity of my skills. On the other hand, I form my self portraits in such a way that my experience – my past, present, and future – all blend together. There is a consistency in the inconsistency.

Recycled Mixed-Media

An experimentation of the materiality and dimension of the canvas using the wall as a site for textured and interactive work.

“For a moment the abstract insubstantial nature of feeling/thoughts can be experienced as external and embodied by material.”

Oil Paint

Over the top representations. Heavy brushstrokes. Unclean brushes. An image of Mania. While these pieces do not encompass my whole being, they are a product of unconscious analysis necessary in forming a wider investigation of the complexities of emotion previously absent from my work. When we create art we unwittingly express parts of ourselves that are normally out of sight. Creating art can put us in touch with parts of ourselves that we may never access otherwise. An art practiced over time can become a form of self-study that slowly and steadily builds a matured self-awareness.
